He also enjoys drag racing, light opera, and questing for the one episode of Daria he has been unable to locate.

== Community ==

Gryffon is not exactly well known around the areas of [[Graal]], but he has his circle, mostly those who have played [[Graal 2001]] near the launch of [[Graal Kingdoms]], and anyone who has been in [[Dustari]] long enough to know Baritol from Torub. He is a [[GCC:Moderator|moderator]] of the [[Graal Communication Center]]'s [[GCC:Graal2001 kingdoms]] [[GCC:Subforum|subforum]], which basically means he has access to the [[GCC::Sandbox|Moderators' Sandbox]] while needing to do very little moderating work. This arrangement seems to work well enough for Gryffon, though he sometimes wishes he could get a little more attention, in order to draw light to the causes he believes need attention.

== Development Areas ==

Gryffon's scripting is nonexistent, his levels unskilled and unpolished, his graphics steadily improving but still total rubbish. However, Gryffon is an exquisite story designer, specializing in highly detailed world scenarios. He can rattle off to you the natural and social laws of an imaginary world he just made up that can teeter on the levels of Tolkein and Nix, define esoteric aspects, develop cultures, and plan cities all in a week, and then move on to a brand new world the next.

Velox Cruentus started playing Graal in 1998, and ended up playing N-Pulse soon afterwards. He then moved around servers to servers until he finally worked on a server called Termina. After Termina turned P2P and the server quickly fall, Velox Cruentus started working various servers, namely Doomsday and Shaded Legend. Eventually, he moved on and after a quick uprise as Manager of Era due to Andrew's hasty resignation, he ended up resigning within a month. Afterwards, he started his own server, Relic, which he gave to Tony when he was globally banned.

This page is to be dedicated to the information concerning the biographical details and/or the historical factiods concerning the main person(s) regarding the purpose of this page. The Deek is a creature forced into a life of secrecy. Described as a tall person of elven origin, he served in the past as a high paladin of Queen Dallandara's holy court. His strength is exquisite, and his swordsmanship is unmatchable from any of his land. From this he gained a respectable reputation, and also some enemies, of these was the woman named Hiram, married to David. Jealous that Deek was much better than David, she devised a plan to gain control of the land and exile the paladin. Driven by the devil like a raging storm, she ran David's sword through Dallandara and forced the power of the land into her own hands. The life of him and his sister's now being threatend, he had but no choice but to leave the land that he once protected and adored, and to live a life behind curtains and undisclosed locations, fearing the protection of his sister and the threat of Queen Hiram's skilled assassins on his fingertips.

The [[GScript IRC channel|#gscript]] community hopes that this site can provide a comprehensive and up to date resource of documentation of [[Graal]]'s various features, which would be impossible without the great interactivity of a [[Wikipedia:Wiki|Wiki]]. Currently, the focus is mainly on technical aspects ([[GScript]], [[Graal4]]) due to the technical nature of the community's interest, but the intent is to eventually provide guides to established playerworlds, various Graal-related communities and information on [[GraalOnline]] procedures.

The most well known and largest Wiki is most definitely the [http://www.wikipedia.org Wikipedia], and the first [[Wiki:WikiWikiWeb]] is part of Ward Cunningham's [http://c2.com/ Portland Pattern Repository]. Hopefully the obvious success of both, and the independence and open-mindedness of this Wiki, will encourage [[Graalian]]s to similar greatness.

'''Maloria''''s roots goes back a long ways to the time of traditional [[Graal]]. The server was a moderatly popular server pulling in a max player count of 40 to 50 per day. Maloria had a extremly large number of events, and had many advanced scripts for the time. Several changes in managers occured, and then the server disappeared from the classic list. Not because it had gone under or anything, but because the staff were developing a new system. The new system completely redefined the traditional Graal style. Players started with 45 HP and 15 MP and through series of [[quests]] they could get 60 HP and 35 MP. There was a large [[overworld]], but they had cut many of the events from their past server. Through most of this phase, however, the server was not listed on the serverlist. After much development in this system, they began working on a system dubbed '''v2'''.

'''v2''' was a new system proposed by the staff that developed on the old system, that is not dubbed '''v1'''. The new system promised a leveling system and new items. Even different classes for players to pick. They picked a few lucky beta testers and after a while they were off. The new system was released in a public beta test. Players were told that this was temporary, and as soon as more development was done, a server reset would occur and the official version would begin. However, this never happened. The staff apparently lost intrest in the idea and simply developed what they had. Which brings us to the current status of the server.

==Present==

Through forgotten pledges and broken promises, v2 was never fully developed to the staff's original expectations. The server has a very unfinished feel to it. The classes the players were once promised, are now unbalanced, favoring the fighter, simply because they developed the skills and weapons for the fighter before the scout and before the mage. Many staff now are working on their own Dev server, (actually owned by another person,) on a even more updated system called, as logically expected, '''v3'''. Many original staff are debating their presence in the server and are considering leaving server, even Graal, for the same reason most people do; lack of time and other commitments.

'''v3''' is now promising to fill in the gaps that v2 left behind and add even more. The staff however, as in past, think big, but don't always follow through.

The '''Kai''' is just that kind of guy, y'know? The kind that'll punch you in the face for disrespecting his shoes, but then fly halfway across the world to save you from mutant maneating savages. It is not just because savages give good EXP; deep down, under all the layers of carefully-assembled evil, there is a spark of good in his heart. But he is very embarrassed about the whole thing, and would prefer if you didn't mention it.

Also, he is awesome at [[GScript|scripting]]. You can mention that part as much as you want.

== Community ==

The Kai's role in the [[Graal]] community was that of a long-range cynic. He habitually stalked the [[Graal Communication Center]] in search of new prey, while doing everything he could to undermine the benevolent administration. At least, this was the role attributed to him by the current batch of [[GCC:Super_moderator|supermods]]. He knew it was supposed to be derogatory, but he kind of liked it!

The Kai could regularly be seen arguing with people who didn't know any better. If you ever wanted somebody to tell you how stupid your religion is, he happily provided that service.

== Development Areas ==

As mentioned above, the Kai exceled in the creation of GScript, but was generally too lazy to do anything about it. This was exacerbated by the fact that he lacked graphical skills. It is theorised that both sides of his brain fused pre-natally, forming some kind of super uberleft, but nobody would grant him the research funds to confirm this.

At times the Kai would be enthusing about some new idea for a [[playerworld]]. Do not be fooled! He never had any belief that he would actually make this into a real project, he just liked designing stuff. If you offered to work for him or, for some reason, told him to work for you, he would fix you with a glare. A glare that has killed stronger men than you. Just don't push it, okay?

He has quite the history!

In the early days of his Graal career, he was loosely affiliated with both Faheria and Tempest of Time, but quickly jumped ship when he was invited to script for the [[NewWorld]] project. This was his gateway into the community, and what netted him a working [[Graal Communication Center|forum]] account. He left after a while. He is kind of commitmentphobic.

Though initially reluctant, he spent a short time working on [[Graal2001]] and even joined the way-too-inclusive club of one-time managers. Prestigious enough to warrant mention? It's dicey. Anyway, people kept abusing their power and editing his scripts, so he yelled at them all and went home.

For about two years he served as supermod for the [[Graal Communication Center]], ruling over all its denizens with an awesome iron fist, but eventually resigned for reasons that were quickly censored. It is sufficient to say that he was tired of working with inadequate tools for inadequate employers - [[Unixmad|one of which]] ignored all of his input while [[Stefan|the other]] reversed all of his decisions. Shortly after leaving, he was replaced by [[Moon Goddess|two]] [[Spark911|idiots]]. C'est la vie.

He was at one time a member of the GST.

The Velox Phishing Crisis refers to [[User:Velox Cruentus|Velox Cruentus]] gaining access to several Graal accounts through an advanced [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing phishing] method. This was the worst breach in Graal security since the [[Christmas Password-Theft Crisis]] in December of 2001.

==Graalians.com==

In late September, 2005, Velox posted a [http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61473 thread] stating he had created a new website, [http://www.graalians.com Graalians.com], which allowed [[Graalian|Graalians]] to create elaborate profiles, post screenshots, and post server reviews. This was a factual statement. There was not a single person who expressed suspicion and most of the replies to the thread were positive, with [[User:James205|James205]] calling the website, "probably the best [[Graal]] website I've seen."

==The Phishing Crisis==

Registration at the website required the user to state their Graal account name, provide an E-Mail address, and create a password. Some members used the same password for Graalians.com as they used for their Graal accounts and/or their E-Mail accounts. This allowed Velox to get the passwords to several Graal accounts. Either because the member had used the same password for both Graal and Graalians.com, or by accessing their E-Mail and requesting the password, or finding it in an undeleted E-Mail from [[Cyberjoueurs]].

Velox was also able to gain access to the [http://www.paypal.com PayPal] accounts of [[User:Draenin|Draenin]], [[User:Cypher|Cypher]] and [[User:Tupper|Tupper]] by accessing their E-Mail accounts and requesting the PayPal password.

Velox put this information to use in early November, 2005, by stealing several items from accounts on various servers, often resetting the accounts when he was done.

He also transferred $350 (USD) out of Cypher's PayPal account and $450 (USD) out of Tupper's, a serious criminal offense.

[[User:Damix|Damix]] was the first to realize that something was wrong when his roomate, [[User:Lylic|Lylic]], realized his account had been accessed. Damix connected the security breach to Graalians.com and Velox. He then informed [[User:Stefan|Stefan]] via [[RC]].

Draenin was the first person to blow the whistle on the crisis by posting a [http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62130 thread] on the [[Graal Kingdoms]] forum. About three hours later, Stefan posted a [http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62131 thread] explaining what had happened.

In total, 70 accounts were compromised in the crisis. A considerable number as there were only 215 accounts created on Graalians.com, though clearly some accounts (such as Drumguy and Drumguy1) belong to the same person.

Velox Phishing Crisis

The Velox Phishing Crisis refers to [[Velox Cruentus]] gaining access to several Graal accounts through an advanced [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing phishing] method. This was the worst breach in Graal security since the [[Christmas Password-Theft Crisis]] in December of 2001.

==Graalians.com==

In late September, 2005, Velox posted a [http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61473 thread] stating he had created a new website, [http://www.graalians.com Graalians.com], which allowed [[Graalian|Graalians]] to create elaborate profiles, post screenshots, and post server reviews. This was a factual statement. There was not a single person who expressed suspicion and most of the replies to the thread were positive, with [[User:James205]] calling the website, "probably the best [[Graal]] website I've seen."

==The Phishing Crisis==

Registration at the website required the user to state their Graal account name, provide an E-Mail address, and create a password. Some members used the same password for Graalians.com as they used for their Graal accounts and/or their E-Mail accounts. This allowed Velox to get the passwords to several Graal accounts. Either because the member had used the same password for both Graal and Graalians.com, or by accessing their E-Mail and requesting the password, or finding it in an undeleted E-Mail from [[Cyberjoueurs]].

Velox was also able to gain access to the [http://www.paypal.com PayPal] accounts of [[User:Draenin]], [[User:Cypher]] and [[User:Tupper]] by accessing their E-Mail accounts and requesting the PayPal password.

Velox put this information to use in early November, 2005, by stealing several items from accounts on various servers, often resetting the accounts when he was done.

He also transferred $350 (USD) out of Cypher's PayPal account and $450 (USD) out of Tupper's, a serious criminal offense.

[[User:Damix]] was the first to realize that something was wrong when his roomate, [[User:Lylic]], realized his account had been accessed. Damix connected the security breach to Graalians.com and Velox. He then informed [[User:Stefan]] via [[RC]].

Draenin was the first person to blow the whistle on the crisis by posting a [http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62130 thread] on the [[Graal Kingdoms]] forum. About three hours later, Stefan posted a [http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62131 thread] explaining what had happened.

The most well known and largest Wiki is most definitely the [http://www.wikipedia.org Wikipedia], and the first [[Wiki:WikiWikiWeb]] is part of Ward Cunningham's [http://c2.com/ Portland Pattern Repository]. Hopefully the obvious success of both, and the independence and open-mindedness of this Wiki, will encourage [[Graalian]]s to similar greatness.

Era was then given [[Snake]] or [[snakeandy7]] and the server was still in decline. Snake then gave the server to [[Velox]] who really did nothing and the server still stayed relatively empty.
[[Rick]] was then given the server and he worked for almost half a year to fix the server up and it was released on [[10/23/05]].

'''Graal2001''' is considered a big change in the history of [[Graal]]; it was one of the first worlds to introduce ghost mode, and pioneered many other changes. Serverside scripting and many other functions were first tested here. The server, which is also known as Graal Bomy Moon, was the second official project (after [[Graal: The Adventure]]) to come to Graal. The methods of designing levels and making scripts have changed a lot since this world's original creation. Due to the fact that Graal2001 only allowed [[Pay to Play]] accounts to play on the server, it brought in money to Graal, which made it possible to create better Graal software. A lot of the scripting we are now able to use is only possible due to the Graal-wide introduction of the [[NPC Server]], originally designed for Graal2001.

The success of Graal2001 led to another Gold server: [[Graal Kingdoms]]. The classic Graal look changed, and features such as psuedo-3D mapping and semi-realistic characters were added.

Graal2001 became a classic server a while after Kingdoms came out, and 2001 was left with an extremely small amount of players. G2K1 was popular for a short time; however, it was later removed from the Classic list, and left in the dark abyss of the [[Private Server]] list.

Many [[Graalian]]s are attempting to revive this tossed-aside server, and even a [[Graal2001 Supporter]] guild was created to help support it. Graal2001 is still availible in the Private Server list, with a few people logging in every now and then.

Starting in the summer of 1999, Thallen (as you'd know him today) began playing Graal Online - one of the few online games that would run decently on his computer. For his first year or so, he played on several different accounts which are now lost to memory. The first account he was recognized significantly on was "Elimentz." On this account, his home server was Shaded Legend. Not yet even in his teen years, on this account, Thallen admittably did various childish things, varrying from using trainers to harassing staff. That account was used for a good couple months before he advanced, graduating to an account that is even more well-known, still today, upon Graal: "Inphektid." Still today, Inphektid is known as one of Graal's most infamous 'hackers,' dawning around the time of Pie and Ape.
